《王燕雯:晋江市中小学骨干教师培训班心得——Learning from training》 |
During these training days in SABEH, what impresses me most is the three strategies, which are writen down separately on the three key-shape papers. They are THINKING SKILLS, COMPREHENSION STRATEGIES, and INTERACTIVE STRATEGIES. Centering on these strategies, three foreign teachers have many rich and colorful lessons for us. For instance, NAME SOMETHING and ACROSTIC POEM represent the THINKING SKILLS; GEORGE vs GEORGE and HEY, LITTLE ANT help us to improve our understanding and comprehension skills; FIND ANOTHER TEACHER WHO…… and BODY SHAKE liven up the atmosphere of the class and make our speaking English in class easier and more active. The aims for our English teaching of our primary school are not onlyarousing their interest in English and enlarging their English knwoledge, but also developing their thinking. In my opinion, these three strategies happen to have a corresponding relationship with these three aims. Then what should I do in my class. How to reinfore students’ critical and creative thinking skills? How to build students’ vocabulray, understanding and comprehension skills? And how to make students have an active learning. These are all questions which I am eager to have the answers. Here, I would like to share some ideas which I learn from theseinspiring lessons. 1、Make use of the walls of classroom. Like Word Wall, students can stick a new word to the word wall when they think it is hard to remember. Writing and sticking these words not only help student to memerize them but also do good things for their handwriting. 2、Label as much as possible. If we pay attention to the classroom, we can find that foreign teachers has labelled many articles such as Computer, door, window and so on. To my way of thinking, it is a very effictive way to students to learn and memerize these word as a result of involuntary attention. 3、Make students do actions as your instructions if need. Just as foreign teachers say, It is difficult to keep primary students hold still for the whole class. So when we find that some students can’t behave themselves well any more, we should stop our lesson and have a break. In this time, we can combine the actions with our new words or sentences and make students move up. To a certain extent, we call it TPR. 4、Use Picture walk to help teaching. Too many words and sentences are difficult and dull for primary students to understand. Using the pictures can help a lot. Predicting what will happen and describing what is happening in the picture are going to be interesting forstudents. Meanwhile It will need students open their mouth veryfrequently . To sum up, It is my pleasure to join this training and I have learnt a lot from it . Thanks a lot.
